Finding Great Deals on eBay By Sunil Tanna
Isn't it great when you get something at a bargain price? That's why so many people spend hours searching for good deals on items that they want and need, and get great satisfaction when they find one. We all know people (and some of us are those people) who haunt garage sales, stores that are holding sales, wholesale warehouses, flea markets, and especially online and offline auctions. eBay is such a huge and busy marketplace, that items are constantly being sold at excellent prices - and the biggest problem is simply finding and choosing items that you want to buy.
One thing to remember about participating in eBay and other online auctions is that are some sellers who are actually trying to scam you and other bargain-hunters. What this means, is that no matter how much fun you might be having, and no matter how good a deal seems to be on offer, you should be cautious of possible scams and fraud.
The first thing that you need to do, is to make sure that you read every word of the description and auction details. You might be surprised at how many people get tricked (or even trick themselves) by failing to follow this simple step. For example, a common scam, one that's even been featured on "Judge Judy", is eBay sellers who creating listings that look at a glance as if is a valuable item (such as an Xbox, a phone or jewelry) is being sold, but actually are selling "only the photograph" of the item - an incredible number of incautious people get taken by such tricks.
The thing to remember is that you can never have too much information - especially since that information is about an individual that you may be doing business with. You should pay special attention to what the description and auction details do not say. For instance, is a guarantee mentioned? Is the item new? Is it authentic? Is there proof of authenticity? Look for auctions that provide the right information

- and the right amount of information. Avoid those that do not.
As well as the auction listing, another thing that you should thoroughly examine is the available information about the seller. You learn as much as you can about the seller, including reading their feedback from previous auctions. Ask yourself if you can you trust them: in the case of scammers, there often will be clues as to the nature of the person in their profile and feedback from previous auctions.
Another thing to be aware of is any shipping and handling costs that you may be required to pay. In most auctions, the buyer is required to pay these costs, and it is not unknown for sellers to try to charge more than the actual shipping and handling costs are. You should make sure you understand any shipping and handling costs that may apply, as well as the expect time frame for delivery, before bidding on any item.
